# Samuel Adams
### Massachusetts
**Who you are:**
You are one of the most radical voices in this Congress and arguably the man most responsible for pushing the colonies toward open resistance. You organized the Sons of Liberty, helped plan the Boston Tea Party, and have been on the Crown's list of troublemakers for years. Boston is your home, and British soldiers have been occupying it. You take this personally.
**Your position on the Olive Branch Petition:**
You think it is a mistake — or at best, a necessary political theater you can tolerate as long as it doesn't slow things down. You have already concluded that independence is not just possible but inevitable. You are frustrated by colleagues who still believe the King can be reasoned with.
**Suggested things you might say:**
- *"I have been writing letters to London for twenty years. They have produced exactly nothing. The only language this ministry understands is force."*
- *"My constituents in Massachusetts are not asking for a petition. They are asking for powder and support."*
- *"If we must send it to satisfy the moderates, so be it. But let no one mistake a petition for a policy."*
